Where your tree actually goes after we leave the site.
Wood chipping is the default
For most residential jobs, all timber and branches are fed through a wood chipper and the chips are removed from site. We take the mulch with us unless you want it left on the lawn or garden beds β in which case we leave a pile.
When timber gets kept separately
Larger sections of hardwood timber β particularly camphor laurel, silky oak, brush box, and some eucalypts β are sometimes set aside for milling, furniture making, or firewood. If you want to keep the timber, tell us before the job starts so we cut it into manageable lengths rather than feeding it through the chipper.
What happens to palm material
Palm trunks are fibrous and don't chip efficiently. They're cut into lengths and removed by truck. The material usually goes to green waste processing facilities.
The mulch option
Fresh wood chip mulch is genuinely useful in garden beds β it retains moisture, suppresses weeds, and improves soil as it breaks down. If you have garden beds to mulch, we can leave a heap for you to spread. Let us know before we start.
What about the stump?
Stumps are ground on-site and the wood chip stays in the hole. You can top-dress with soil and oversow for lawn, or mix the chips with soil and plant into the bed after 6β12 months.
