Raise the lower canopy for clearance, light, and access. AS4373 standard cuts. Brisbane arborists.
Canopy lifting removes the lower branches of a tree to raise the height of the canopy. It's one of the most common pruning requests in suburban Brisbane trees that were fine when planted 15 years ago have now grown to where the lower branches are scraping the roof, blocking the driveway, or cutting out light to the garden below.
We remove lower branches to their natural union point (AS4373 collar cuts), not mid-branch stubs. The result is a raised canopy with clean wound closures the tree can seal not stubs that die, rot, and produce vigorous brushy regrowth.

Canopy lifting (also called crown lifting) removes the lower branches of a tree to raise the height of the lowest point of the canopy. Common reasons include: clearance over driveways, paths, and fences; improving light to lawns and gardens below; and reducing the visual obstruction of a low-growing canopy.
It depends on the purpose. For pedestrian clearance, a minimum of 2.5m is standard. For vehicle clearance (driveways and carparks), 5m is typical. We assess what's practical given the tree's structure and the canopy proportion we're removing.
Done correctly, removing lower branches to natural union points following AS4373 is generally well-tolerated by most tree species. Removing too much of the lower canopy too quickly can stress the tree and trigger vigorous epicormic regrowth. We assess the appropriate amount before quoting.
