Real price ranges from a Brisbane arborist. Not ballpark guesses what we actually quote.
You'll find enormous variation in tree removal quotes in Brisbane anywhere from $150 to $5,000+ for what sounds like a similar tree. The variation is real, and it's worth understanding what drives it before you accept the cheapest quote.
The main price drivers are: tree height, trunk diameter, access (can a truck get to within 20m?), distance from structures, species, and whether a council permit is required. Stump grinding is almost always quoted as a separate line item.

The single biggest driver. A 4m ornamental tree and a 15m eucalypt are completely different jobs. Height affects climbing time, equipment needs, and the number of crew required.
If a truck can park within 20m and there's a wide side gate, the job is faster and cheaper. Tight access, multiple fences, or a long carry distance adds time and cost.
A tree in the open can be felled straight. A tree next to a house, pool, or fence requires slow sectional dismantling, more rigging, and more time on-site.
A soft ornamental tree is faster to cut than dense hardwood like ironbark or brush box. Species also affects how the green waste is processed.
If a permit is required, add 5–25 business days for approval plus the cost of an arborist report ($250–$450) and application processing.
Usually quoted separately. Add $80–$600 depending on stump diameter. Most customers include it — it's easier when the crew is already on site.
Small trees under 5m with easy access and no permit requirements can be removed from $199. The lowest prices go to small ornamental trees with good truck access and no overhead hazards.
Common reasons include: no insurance (your risk if something goes wrong), no qualifications (higher injury risk, more likelihood of property damage), cutting corners on cleanup, or quoting a different scope of work. Always ask to see the insurance certificate before accepting a quote.
Height and diameter are the main drivers. Access difficulty (narrow side gate, pool fence, no truck access) adds cost. Species matters — a bottlebrush comes out faster than a dense ironbark. Proximity to structures requires slower, more controlled sectional dismantling. Council permit requirements add time and cost.
Stump grinding is usually quoted separately unless you specifically ask for it to be included. We quote both clearly so you can decide.
