Eucalypts are common on Brisbane blocks and among the most removed trees in the city. What to know before booking.
Eucalypts are the most removed trees in Brisbane
Gum trees (eucalypts) are the tree species we remove most frequently in Brisbane. They grow fast, get large, and the combination of heavy branches, fibrous bark, and dense wood makes them a real risk near structures. Grandma planted a gum 30 years ago and now it's 20 metres tall with branches over the house.
Which eucalypts are common in Brisbane gardens
Common suburban species include: Eucalyptus tereticornis (forest red gum), Eucalyptus grandis (flooded gum), Angophora costata (smooth-barked apple), Corymbia citriodora (lemon-scented gum), and Corymbia maculata (spotted gum). Scribbly gums and tallowwoods are also common.
Are eucalypts protected in Brisbane?
Some eucalypts are protected under VPOs, particularly larger specimens. Native species in environmental overlay zones have additional controls. We check VPO status as part of every quote β many suburban gum trees can be removed without a permit, but the large ones near houses often cannot.
Removal costs
Small eucalypt (under 5m): $199β$450. Medium (5β10m): $450β$900. Large (10β15m): $900β$1,800. Very large (15m+): $1,800β$3,500+. The density of eucalypt wood and the volume of timber (large gums produce enormous amounts of green waste) keeps these jobs at the higher end of each bracket.
