Proper crown reduction and pruning across Aspley 4034. Qualified arborists, fixed quotes, full clean-up.
Aspley is one of those northern Brisbane suburbs where the blocks are noticeably larger than the inner city. Plenty of properties carry mature gums, jacarandas, mangoes and the occasional camphor laurel that's been allowed to get away. With more room comes bigger trees, and bigger trees mean lopping decisions matter more.
A bad lopping job on a 15-metre gum doesn't just look ugly — it can trigger long-term decay, weak regrowth, and a tree that drops limbs in the next storm. We work to the Australian Standard for pruning amenity trees (AS4373-2007) so what we cut today doesn't come back to bite you in three summers.
If you're sitting on a tree that's overshadowing the pool, dropping over the colorbond fence, or just looking ragged, send us a couple of photos. You'll have a fixed quote the same day.

Topping a tree (cutting the central leader and main scaffolds back to stubs) is the worst possible thing you can do to most species. It feels like a quick fix. In reality, the tree responds by throwing dozens of weakly-attached water shoots, which then have to come off again every 18 months — at your expense.
Proper crown reduction, by contrast, drops the height by 15–25 per cent while keeping the natural framework. The tree heals, the regrowth is balanced, and you don't end up on the same bloke's quote sheet every other year.
Here's what you actually get from a "lopping" call in Aspley:

After enough jobs in the same suburb you start to see the patterns. Aspley's are pretty consistent.
Mature gum dropping on the pool fence. Plenty of Aspley properties have a 15–20 metre eucalypt that was small when the house went up. Now it's looming over the pool, the pump shed, or both. Selective crown reduction keeps it healthy while removing the immediate risk.
Mango tree out of control. Old mangoes can hit 12 metres if left. You can't pick the fruit, the lawn underneath is permanently mulched, and the canopy throws so much shade nothing else grows. Crown reduction with selective thinning brings the tree back to a useful size.
Jacaranda hanging over the colorbond. Aspley neighbours are generally reasonable, but no one wants leaves and seed pods in their gutters every November. Directional pruning from your side gets it sorted without the awkward boundary conversation.
Storm-damaged eucalypt limbs. Gums are notorious for dropping branches without warning. Pre-storm-season deadwooding is one of the best preventative investments a Brisbane homeowner can make.
The process is consistent regardless of tree size.
Step 1 — Quote. Text photos to 0474 011 120 or use the website form. We come back same day with a fixed price and an honest opinion on whether lopping is even the right move.
Step 2 — Schedule. Most Aspley jobs go in within a week. Emergencies get prioritised.
Step 3 — On the day. The crew turns up with chipper, ropes, climbing gear, and an AQF Level 5 arborist running the cuts. Drop zones get set up, neighbours are forewarned if needed.
Step 4 — Cleanup. Everything chipped or carted. Lawn left raked. Driveway swept. You can use the yard the same evening.
Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law (NALL) protects trees of certain dimensions across all Aspley properties. The threshold is typically 4 metres in height or 40cm trunk circumference, with exemptions for species on the council's pest list.
For most reduction work on protected trees a permit is required if you're removing more than minor amounts of canopy. We handle the application process — including the arborist report when one is needed — so you don't have to sort it.
We turn up, we quote what the job is, and we do it. No drift between phone call and invoice. Certificate of Currency before we start. AQF Level 5 qualifications on every site. If pruning isn't the right answer — sometimes the honest call is "this tree is past saving" — we'll tell you straight rather than rope you into a job that won't last.
Smaller jobs (medium tree, simple reduction) start around $300. Big mature gums or jacarandas with crown reductions, deadwooding and clean-up will land between $800 and $2,500 depending on access and how much material is coming off. Photos to 0474 011 120 and we'll come back with a fixed number.
For minor pruning — no. For significant canopy reduction or work on protected trees under the BCC Natural Assets Local Law — usually yes. We assess this for you up front and lodge the application if it's required.
True topping or stub-cutting can absolutely shorten a tree's life. Proper crown reduction (which is what we do regardless of what you call it on the phone) doesn't — the tree heals, regrows in proportion, and stays structurally sound.
Yes. Aspley's blocks tend to carry the biggest trees in our service area. We have the climbers, ropes and chipper to handle gums and figs up to 25 metres.
Aspley is well within our standard service area. Quotes same day. Most jobs scheduled within 3 to 10 business days. Storm damage and genuine hazards prioritised.
Yes — it's included in every quote. The chipper goes straight onto the truck. You don't pay extra and you don't get left with a pile on the verge.
