Sensitive pruning, crown reduction and clearance work for Balmoral 4171. Done to AS4373 — not stub cuts.
Balmoral is one of those tightly-held inner east pockets. Queenslanders with verandahs, established gardens, and trees that have been on the block longer than most owners. The poincianas, jacarandas and figs you see lining the streets are exactly the species that respond well to careful pruning — and badly to topping.
Most "tree lopping" calls we take from Balmoral are really about preserving something old and good. The branch is too close to the gutter. The fig roots are heading for the foundation. The neighbour's said something. None of these are reasons to take the whole tree out — they're reasons to prune well.
Send us a photo and we'll come back with a fixed quote, usually within a few hours during business days.

The word "lopping" gets used loosely. Often what people want is a cleaner, smaller tree without losing the look that suits the house. That's not lopping in the technical sense — that's crown reduction or thinning done properly.
True lopping (mid-branch stub cuts) on a Balmoral fig or poinciana would be a slow-motion disaster. The stubs decay, water shoots erupt, and within two years the tree looks worse than it did before the work. AS4373-2007 sets the standard — we cut back to lateral branches or the collar so the tree heals cleanly.
Services we provide locally:

Inner-east Brisbane has a distinct flavour, and Balmoral is right in the middle of it. Most pruning calls fall into a small set of categories.
Fig over the Queenslander. Beautiful tree, problematic when the branches start scraping the corro roof. We prune for clearance without ruining the canopy shape.
Poinciana lifting off the colorbond. Fast-growing, broad-canopied, and prone to seasonal mess. Crown reduction every three to five years keeps them manageable.
Mango that's stopped producing fruit you can reach. Old mangoes get tall quickly. We can reduce height for accessibility without cutting it back to stubs.
Jacaranda in front of the heritage frontage. They want to keep the tree — they just want it shaped and clean. Selective thinning preserves the look.
Tree on the boundary the neighbour's complained about. We do the cuts from your side, to your standard, before anyone else takes matters into their own hands.
1. Quote. Send photos to 0474 011 120 or use the form. Same-day fixed price.
2. Schedule. Most Balmoral jobs slot in within a week. Hazard work jumps the queue.
3. On the day. Climbers, ropes, chipper, AQF Level 5 arborist running the cuts. Drop zones managed for the tight Balmoral block setup.
4. Cleanup. Everything chipped or removed. Lawn raked, verandahs swept. You won't be picking up sticks for a week.
Balmoral has pockets of character residential zoning under the Brisbane City Plan. Add the BCC Natural Assets Local Law on top — which protects trees of certain dimensions across all suburbs — and you've got two layers of approval to think about for significant pruning work.
We do the legwork. If your tree's protected and a permit is required, we lodge the application, supply the arborist report, and only proceed once it's cleared. The quote tells you exactly what's involved before you commit.
Some trees aren't worth pruning. They've been topped one too many times, decayed at the union, or planted in a spot they were never going to thrive in. We'll tell you when removal is the honest answer, and we'll quote both options where it makes sense. AQF Level 5 qualifications. $20M public liability. Certificate of Currency on request before we start.
Small to medium pruning jobs typically land $250–$700. Larger work on fig or poinciana with significant crown reduction sits in the $700–$2,000+ range. Tight access on heritage frontages can push it slightly. We give fixed quotes so the number doesn't move on you.
For minor pruning, usually no. For significant reduction on protected trees, often yes. The Natural Assets Local Law and character residential overlays both apply in parts of Balmoral. We check this for you before quoting and handle the application when needed.
Not if it's done properly. Crown reduction keeps the natural shape — just smaller. You shouldn't be able to tell the tree was pruned from twenty metres away. If someone's selling you a tree that's been hacked square, that's lopping, and it's not what we do.
We can prune anything overhanging your property back to the boundary. For work on the neighbour's side of the trunk we'd need their permission. Most Balmoral neighbours are accommodating when approached properly — we can help with that conversation if useful.
Same-day quotes during business hours. Most non-emergency Balmoral jobs schedule within 3 to 10 days. Emergency or hazard limb work gets priority — usually within 24 to 48 hours.
Yes. All green waste removed, chipper to truck, verandahs and driveway swept. The quote covers it.
